7 Tips to Love Where You Are

“Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.” – Bill Keane

Today is a beautifully wrapped free gift that we all receive. We should be thrilled about a new day, yet too often we take it for granted. We complain, feel bad about what happens to us today and go to sleep dreading tomorrow.

It doesn’t have to be that way. Don’t let that happen to you.

The axiom “take one day at a time” is one we should all strive to live by. This does not mean planning and goal setting is out the window. It simply is a way to remain focused on TODAY – and tomorrow, you can focus on that day. Use the 7 tips below to begin appreciating where you are TODAY – not where you were or even where you are going.

1. TODAY YOU DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF.

We are so used to allowing ourselves to get bogged down in the mundane that we use far too much energy on things that are really unimportant with little energy left over to deal with what is important.

2. TODAY YOU CAN RECOGNIZE YOU HAVE LEARNED MUCH FROM YOUR EXPERIENCES.

When faced with obstacles, choices and direction, don’t forget you have faced many of life’s challenges before and you survived. You will again.

3. TODAY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY PRESENTED TO YOU.

Many times, we will forfeit a wonderful opportunity because we procrastinate, muddle over and “over think” until the opportunity is gone. Success is when preparation meets opportunity. Always be prepared to take advantage of an opportunity.

4. TODAY YOU HAVE WHAT YOU NEED.

Consider the many people in this world who lack food, clothing, and shelter. Show gratitude for what you have and you will open the door wider to receive more.

5. IMAGINE YOUR LIFE WITH MORE JOY.

You are what you think. Think and act positively today. By thinking positively, you create more positive experiences.

6. BE GRATEFUL FOR WHERE YOU ARE.

You can go to the places you want without worrying about bombs exploding all around you. I can’t imagine living in the midst of fear and terror caused by war. Be grateful that you are safe.

7. TODAY YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GROW.

View whatever challenges you face today as an opportunity for growth and change.

Sometimes, you need to not “sweat the small stuff”. By doing so, you can reduce stress and use your energy to focus on the things that really matter most to you.
