Enjoy the Ride – the Journey is As Important As the Destination

Often people have a strong desire to achieve or be something but have no idea how to get there or accomplish it, from their point current of view, the dream seems impossible. If you have a dream, should you just give up now?

My answer to that is NEVER! And I will never change my stance on this, no matter how implausible your dream may be. It is natural for us to assume that we can not do it, after all if we had done it before we would be there already, wouldn’t we? This is a new endeavour, a completely unfamiliar undertaking, you are now heading into unexplored territory! And so you must have faith. Martin Luther King said …

Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.

Jack Canfield Author of chicken soup for the soul described his understanding of this principle in his appearance on the Secret Dvd ….

“A car driving through the night, the headlights only reach 100 – 200 feet in front of the car. But you could make it all the way from California to New york whilst driving in the dark, because all you have to see is the next 200 feet. And that’s how life tends to unfold before us. If we just trust, the next 200 feet will unfold, and the next 200 feet after that and so on. Your life will keep unfolding and it will eventually get you to the destination of what ever it is that you truly want”.

The important thing is not necessarily that you know how you will reach your goal, but more so the definite decision that you will reach your goal. Take the first step, and then the next step will come into your view.

Tragically most dreams remain exactly that, just a dream. If you want it to be your reality, you must make a definite decision to pursue your dream. The fact you have these thought impulses entering your mind, is evidence to the fact you must have some small desire for them. But if doubt and unbelief are allowed to erode at your precious dreams, they will quickly kill them off, until you have instead made a definite decision that your dreams will never be achieved or obtained. That is the way of the world, they will tell you that you can’t, that it is not possible. A short study of every successful person will reveal to you that they were told they can’t. But after ignoring the nay sayers, and accomplishing the so-called “impossible”, their sceptics were force fed humble pie and they sealed their place in history.

Michael Jordan was put on the B-team, when playing college basketball. Soon to be known as the greatest player, the sport has ever seen. He did not allow the doubts of others, to spoil his faith and belief in his own ability.

Copernicus was branded a heretic for saying the earth orbited the sun, and Columbus ridiculed for saying the earth was round. A person with real vision, when others are blind, can indeed change the course of world history. And so can YOU.

Take action now. The journey of a thousand miles, starts with a single step! Napoleon Hill said … “Most of us go through life as failures because we waiting for the ‘time to be right’. Do not wait. The time will never be ‘just right’. Start where you stand, work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.

So get going! Just have a vision of what it is, you really want. With that in place take the first steps, and watch your life and dreams unfold before you.
