Write it Down & Get it Done

You’ve heard it before, but you probably never do it.

“Write down your goals and you’ll accomplish them.”

I think the biggest problem with this is most of us bite off more than we can chew. We come up with goals like “I’m gonna lose 20 lbs by next month.” This might be a good goal, but you can easily fail and take a blow to your confidence.

If you stop working out after two weeks, you fail! If you can’t keep your crazy diet, you fail! If you only lose 5 lbs, you fail!

You have all of these opportunities to fail and only one opportunity to succeed. Once you blow this goal, you’re discouraged and goal setting is out the window.

Why not start with some goals that you can actually accomplish?

Instead of losing 20 lbs in a month, say “I’m gonna work out for 30 minutes tomorrow.” You can do that right? Or how about “I’m gonna eat a healthy lunch tomorrow.”

If you can accomplish little goals like these, you’ll start off on the right track. You’ll feel good about succeeding and you’ll start setting your goals a little higher each time.

So try this out: Take out a piece of paper (YES AN ACTUAL PIECE OF PAPER) and write down 5 things you want to do tomorrow. I don’t care how small they are, just five things you really want to get done. Maybe its sending a card to your mom, doing 20 pushups, or reading a chapter in a book.

Take this list and put it up where you know you are gonna see it and see what happens…

What have you got to lose? I dare you to try it!
